Life in Chester
We love our Life in Chester, one of the UK’s most vibrant cities with stunning historic architecture and a thriving university population. The cobbled streets are home to a wealth of amazing independent businesses, such as Brook Street. From restaurants to tailors to jewellers and guitar shops, Chester has something for everyone. In this blog post we take a look at some of our favourite things about the city in which our hair salon is located!
Chester Cathedral
Graduates from Chester University collect their degrees from this breathtaking cathedral in a series of spectacular annual ceremonies.
For the rest of the year Chester Cathedral is home to a plethora of exhibitions, events and services, many of which are open to the public. The grounds of the cathedral are a great place to meet friends and enjoy long conversations on hot summer days.
Food in Chester
Eating out in Chester is a real treat for any foodie, with everything from simple cafes to Michelin starred restaurants on offer. The best rated Chester place to eat on TripAdvisor is an Eastern European establishment called Pierogi, who specialise in authentic Polish dumplings and Polish soup. For great coffees and homemade cakes try Fork and Flavour on Seller Street.

Chester Zoo
George Mottershead and his family founded Chester Zoo in 1931. It has now grown into one of the biggest zoos in Great Britain at 125 acres in size and home to over 500 different species!
With over 2 million yearly visitors, Chester Zoo is a fantastic day out for all ages. It’s well worth looking at the annual membership and visiting throughout the year!

Shopping in Chester
As well as the usual high street suspects, Chester is home to a huge variety of independent retailers. Hidden above the high street shop fronts is The Rows – a 700 year old second level of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, which is completely unique to Chester city centre. For those seeking familiar brand names, there are both the Grosvenor Shopping Centre and the Greyhound Retail Park on Sealand Road, although the real value of shopping in Chester is exploring The Rows and quaint cobbled backstreets and discovering independent gems.
